Screening without traditional electrodes

As
an add on to the EP15 and
EP25 ABR stand alone systems from Interacoustics, a new patented ABR
screening probe – the BERAphonâ
- will soon be available.
The
system consists of a handheld headphone, incorporating a complete set of fixed
reusable electrodes. A special test routine using stepped stimuli provides
responses for e.g. 20dB to 60dB in 10dB steps.

For
those who want to go beyond basic screening, the EP15
and EP25 by themselves may provide an extensive set of ABR tests and
waveform controls.
The
pilot programs run in developing and refining the BERAphoneâ
and its specialized software includes test of thousands of neonates. An

As
no electrodes need to be applied, testing can commence immediately. To provide
highly reliable test results then takes only 30 seconds for most babies.
Cost
Considerations for Screening:
Test
time using the BERAphonâ
with the EP15/25 algorithm is typically 30 seconds per ear.
No
time needs to be spent for preparing the baby with electrodes. This ensures a
generally more relaxed baby, shortening test time.
Consumables
The only consumable is a tiny amount of electrode gel. Compare this expense to other ABR screeners
