BERAphon®

- ABR Screening without traditional electrodes

ABR Screening without traditional electrodes
  • Test time only 30 seconds
  • Lower refer rates than e.g. OAE screeners
  • Fixed reusable electrodes
  • No preparation of the baby
  • Full follow up immediately available on the EP15 / EP25

As an add on to the EP15 and EP25 ABR stand alone systems from Interacoustics, a new patented ABR screening probe – the BERAphonâ - will soon be available.

The system consists of a handheld headphone, incorporating a complete set of fixed reusable electrodes. A special test routine using stepped stimuli provides responses for e.g. 20dB to 60dB in 10dB steps.

An automated algorithm provides Pass / Refer indication. Easy to interpret waveforms are also displayed.

For those who want to go beyond basic screening, the EP15 and EP25 by themselves may provide an extensive set of ABR tests and waveform controls.

Reliability

The pilot programs run in developing and refining the BERAphoneâ and its specialized software includes test of thousands of neonates. An automated Pass / Refer calculation is a fully integrated part of the software.

Speed

As no electrodes need to be applied, testing can commence immediately. To provide highly reliable test results then takes only 30 seconds for most babies. Printout is provided by the push of a button, and an easy to use integrated database is available for electronic storage

Cost Considerations for Screening:

Time spent in actual testing

Test time using the BERAphonâ with the EP15/25 algorithm is typically 30 seconds per ear.

No time needs to be spent for preparing the baby with electrodes. This ensures a generally more relaxed baby, shortening test time.

Consumables

The only consumable is a tiny amount of electrode gel. Compare this expense to other ABR screeners
